Congratulations to Jeremy and Vicki
who achieved success in speech contests.
Vicki and Jeremy were successful at the Area Contests and will go on to represent GITM and Area R34 at Division level in Evaluation, International and Table Topics contests in Feb / March. Both were up against stiff competition, particularly as both joined Toastmasters in 2011.
Congratulations to them both.
Glen Iris celebrates its first anniversary as a chartered club.
Wednesday the 7th of September marked the first anniversary of Glen Iris becoming an offically chartered club. June organised a fun celebration dinner at Grande Forne Bistro.
A huge congratulations to Anna who has achieved her Advanced Communicator Gold! A wonderful achievement!
Toastmasters International is a non-profit organisation which gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking abilities through local club meetings, training seminars and speech contests. What do you have to gain?
The club fosters guest and members to grow and develop their public speaking and leadership skills in a positive learning environment.
At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from out practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are – to become better communicators.
Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches and offering constructive evaluation. Non-members can visit for free and do not need to speak.
